About our walking holidays for singles on Menorca
Our singles walking holidays on Menorca are to be enjoyed not endured and are a wonderful combination of fully guided walking, great food/wine and a beach front holiday base. However, the most important ingredients of all are laughter and camaraderie between likeminded souls.
The walks
It would be a crime not to take advantage of Menorca’s beautiful coastline and most of our walks take place right next to the sparkling blue Med. Some of the highlights of these walks are stunning little bays, wonderful beaches and timeless fishing villages. We also stroll through lush ravines or “barrancs” as the locals call them. In either case, Menorca is a walking paradise and a surprise waits around every corner. All walks are of around 6 miles, lightly undulating and taken at a comfortable pace. There are 2 guides in attendance and there is a backup vehicle, should anyone need a lift. This van also carries chilled drinking water, along with tea and coffee, which we enjoy halfway around the walk.
Our holiday base
Our holiday base for the week is the wonderful Hotel Playa Santandria set in the charming little cove of the same name. The hotel itself is literally on the beach and just 20 metres from the water’s edge. Whilst Cala Santandria has a quiet and peaceful feel, there are 5 or 6 decent bars/restaurants within a 5-minute walk and the hotel has a lovely little bar/restaurant of its own. This bright and breezy hotel is family owned and has an adult only policy. Its rooms are bright and modern, with an ample terrace and the showers are fantastic. Facilities include a huge sea facing sun terrace, a small outdoor swimming pool and compact gym. The breakfast room is also sea facing and offers spectacular views.
The food
Many people say that we should market our holidays as a gastronomic experience and that the level of food/wine available is way above what you’d reasonably expect from this type of holiday. During the holiday, we take lunch at several local restaurants. Most of these are used by the locals and we research these on an ongoing basis. It’s a horrible job, but someone’s got to do it! You also don’t have to pay for wine, which is unlimited.
