Painting on Mallorca, based in the beautiful mountain village of Banyalbufar
About our painting holiday on Mallorca
Our painting holiday on Mallorca this year is based from the beautiful and unspoilt village of Banyalbufar, which can be found amongst the mountains on the west coast of the island. The painting subjects in the area are simply amazing and over the course of the week we’ll enjoy timeless villages, spectacular mountain views and charming coastal settings. As with all our painting holidays, the course tutor is Denise Allen who, although working with us for over 10 years, still finds novel and innovative ways to inspire our painting guests. The beautiful hotel from which we are based is nearly 100 years old and its nooks and crannies are almost a painting subject of their own. As with all our holidays, food and drink form a major part of the holiday experience and we’ll eat at a number of fine local restaurants during your week with us.
The painting itself
Although we visit a number of painting sites during the course of the holiday, most of our activities will take place in and around the village of Banyalbufar itself. The painting subjects include rugged bays/harbours, timeless villages and areas with incredible mountain views. In the event of bad weather, the hotel itself has amazing nooks and crannies, plus a terrace with wonderful views down to the sparkling blue Med. Our painting teacher, Denise Allen, has worked with us for over 10 years and yet still finds ways to inspire guests who join us time and time again on the Balearic Islands. The painting sessions are fully backed up and Denise’s assistant carries chairs if needed and is always on hand to change painting water and pour tea/coffee. All painting sites are close to our drop off point and walking is kept to an absolute minimum.
The charming and nearly 100 year old Mar i Vent Hotel is set in the timeless and, by general consent, most beautiful village on Mallorca, Banyalbufar. The village has around 500 inhabitants and a charm that attracts many second home buyers and welcomes the same visitors back year after year. Banyalbufar, whilst small, has a number of nice bars and restaurants, including the hotel itself, which profits from an absolutely charming terrace bar. On top of this, the hotel boasts 100% sea view rooms with ample balconies, a swimming pool with views down to sea and a fine restaurant. Somewhat curiously, Banyalbufar is one of only a couple of villages that registered no cases at all during the current Covid19 crisis.
